Carex densa

Habit: grows as an evergreen, compact grass-like tuft. Leaves are narrow with a prominent folded vein along the middle and occasionally covered in brown spots. Inflorescence is a tightly clustered panicle arising terminally on 5 in long stems and is comprised of 10 spikelets. Florets and fruit apparent between June and August.
Ecology: found in wetlands, riparian zones, and moist meadows up to elevations of 4900 ft (1500 m).
Growing Conditions: full sun to partial shade in moist to wet soil, tolerates seasonal flooding.
Carex densa can be used as a rain garden or bioswale plant.
